Marshchapel Village

Find out what’s going on at the village Hall, the Chapel and St Mary’s Church throughout the year. We have a wide range of events for villagers and visitors from near and far.

Book Village Hall

Village Hall

The hall was built on the current site in 1946. It hosts many events throughout the week and on a monthly basis. Available for hire throughout the year.

St Mary’s Church

The church of St Mary’s is known locally as ‘The Cathedral of the Marshes’. The church has monthly services and is open during daylight hours for visitors.

The Chapel

The Chapel is well supported by the village and holds events as well as a weekly ‘pop-in’ lunch. There are also numerous other groups who use the facilities.

Marshchapel Arts

Marshchapel Arts host various music concerts and art exhibitions at St Mary’s church which are always well supported by the community and beyond.

Our Village

Marshchapel is a coastal village in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire which includes the hamlets of West End and Eskham. It has a population of around 800.

The village has three venues which are host to a large number of events throughout the year. From our monthly Saturday Market, music and arts at the Church and many other events at the chapel and village hall. We have something to cater for everyone.

Sunday Service on the 19th May will be at the Chapel and not the Church due to the Art Exhibition.

Marshchapel Arts 2024

We like to display a wide range of talent from Lincolnshire and Yorkshire blending different styles and medium along with a price range to suit all budgets. That is why we not an open exhibition and artists attend by invitation. We do however try to ensure everyone, especially local artists get an opportunity to display at Marshchapel at some time if not every year.
The public are always delighted by the work of Carol Hudson and she always sells a good amount of her work. Her charming picture below won the public vote for ‘best in show’ in 2023. Welcome back Carol!

Gill Butt - Artist

Gill Butt is another new talent for the 2024 Exhibition. Living in North Somercotes, she is a largely self-taught amateur watercolour artist. Her pieces are inspired by her appreciation of all forms of nature including the big Lincolnshire skies. She is often sketching in the field and completes her paintings back home from her drawings and photographs.

Steve Dixey - Photographer

Another newcomer to Marshchapel is the talented photographer Steve Dixey whose work first caught my eye at last years Grainthorpe Festival of Arts. Steve has spent a lot of his free time as a beach wanderer, drawn to the sands and the sea, peering into pools, digging around for fishing bait and fishing The Humber. His series of photographs for the Marshchapel Exhibition follow a ‘journey’ from Grainthorpe Haven to Haile Sand Fort and what he encounters along the way. Excited to see these shots of our wonderful coastline Steve!

Karin Christensen - Artist

We always try to bring new and exciting talent each year as well as welcoming back some who have exhibited over many years.
Karin Christensen is Norwegian having lived in the UK for 30 years. She is inspired by seascapes. landscapes and old boats and buildings. She has a studio in Kirton near Boston and teaches regular classes and workshops. She is a member of the Lincolnshire Artists Society. Welcome Karin!

Laura Andrew - Artist

Laura Andrew has been painting since she was a young girl and is constantly inspired by the colours and forms she observes in nature. She worked freelance for major publishing houses, illustrating plants, birds and animals.
Now living and working in Lincolnshire, Laura exhibits and sells her paintings worldwide, including at the Society of Wildlife Artists annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. We are looking forward to seeing her new work for us at Marshchapel.
